Last night's Edinburgh Festival gig was at Mad Dogs on George Street, the small intimate venue was packed as the band played a shorter than normal two 45min sets.
Ray told us he had been invited to Genesis's concert last month in Hanover by the band, despite having his doubts he decided to go. It was a strange sensation for him watching a gig where he knew all the words.
A week after he had joined Genesis his mum phoned him up to say that she had heard on the radio news that Phil Collins wanted his old job back, this was a story Ray often told during his Genesis gigs, however it came back to haunt him in Hanover as while sitting chatting backstage with Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks Phil Collins came over to say hello and as he left he quiped "by the way Ray tell your mum I've got by old job back now!"
Holding not much more than a small grudge Ray brilliantly performed Collins's "In The Air Tonight" which he recorded live for his Acoustic Live album in the same venue six yeras ago, you can listen to that track below:-
A large portion of the set was unsurprisingly taken up by Stiltskin material with only a couple of Genesis songs and solo songs, unfortunately Fiona's favourite "Gypsy" was cut from the set but Ray promised to play it next Friday night when he and guitarist Ali Ferguson play one of two special shows.
Ali Ferguson is a fantastic guitarist, he is neither flamboyant or bombastic but he has a touch that can't be learned, he is truely gifted and at times it can be hard to keep your eyes of him, we are really looking forward to next Friday which will I think be a masterclass in guitar and song.
The concert came to an end with the classic trio of "Taking Time", from the new Stiltskin CD "She" and the double of "Footsteps" and "Inside" from the original Stiltskin CD.
Below you can listen to them all as taken from the recent "Stiltskin Live" CD.

Despite the hangover from yesterday's Sma' Corks day out me and she who must be obeyed are off to Edinburgh to see Ray play the Festival, tonights gig is one of several with the full band, however, next weekend he will be playing a couple of solo acoustic gigs as well.
Below are recent live videos of "Inside", perhaps the song he is most famous for together with "Fame" from the new Stiltskin albums which has a dig at the instant fame which befalls winners of reality shows and finally as a bonus a video of one of his Genesis songs the brilliant "Not About Us".
